  Construction continues to drive UK economic growth
 

UK GDP grew by 0.7% in the third quarter of 2010, according to the latest data from the Office for National Statistics.

This is the fourth consecutive quarter in which the UK economy has grown.

Construction output was revised down slightly to 3.9%.  This is a slower rate of growth than the second quarter estimate of 7.0%.  However, construction output still represents a significant driver of economic growth.

Output in the transport, storage and communication industries rose 2.0%, compared with a fall in the previous quarter.
