CITB-ConstructionSkills to retain its public sector status

CITB-ConstructionSkills, the industry training board and Sector Skills Council for the construction industry, is to retain its status as a public sector body.  The organisation's future had been under scrutiny as part of the government's review of all non-departmental public bodies.

The decision to retain CITB-ConstructionSkills in the public sector means that it can continue to collect the statutory training levy across the sector.

James Wates, chairman of CITB-ConstructionSkills, said: “We understand that in these tough times, Government has a duty to ensure it delivers best value for money – so we welcome the news that CITB-ConstructionSkills is to be retained under the Public Bodies Act.”
