Bristol Rovers FC have signed deals with Sainsbury's and the University of the West of England (UWE) to build a new £40 million stadium.
The League 2 side has agreed to sell its current ground, the Memorial Stadium, to the supermarket giant in order to finance the construction of a new 20,000-seater stadium on land near the university's Frenchay Campus.
The new UWE stadium will also include a club shop, conference and teaching facilities, a jogging track and a gym.
Nick Higgs, chairman of Bristol Rovers, claimed the deals mark a significant step in securing a "sustainable future" for the club.
He said: "The move to the Frenchay Campus will be fantastic for our supporters as they will be able to take advantage of the excellent transport links, including the A4174, Parkway and Abbey Wood stations and a new car park.
"Local residents and students will benefit from fantastic new facilities."
A planning application for the stadium is due to be submitted in February or March.
