Bristol meet-the-buyer event for £80m police contract

On Wednesday (June 13th), subcontractors will get the chance to attend a meet-the-buyer event in Bristol to discuss a major public finance initiative project.

This £80 million scheme will see three police custody suites built for Avon and Somerset Police in Bristol, Keynsham and Bridgewater as well as a firearms training centre at a quarry near Portishead, This is Bristol reports.

A group of private firms have joined forces to form the Blue Light Consortium to tackle the four projects and it is using the event to find new partners.

"The open days are providing us with the opportunity to meet with potential local sub-contractors who will work with us to deliver the four contracts within this project, which is proving to be a worthwhile experience," explained Kevin Dickson of Miller Construction, one of the major partners in the consortium.

This Bristol session follows on from a similar event that took place in Bridgwater last month.
