Bidding opens to build first neighbourhood in Olympic Park

Construction firms can now apply to develop the first neighbourhood at the Olympic Park following the completion of next year's Games.

The Olympic Park Legacy Company (OPLC) is looking for developers to build 800 homes at the 9.3 hectare Chobham Manor site - which will be the first of five neighbourhoods at the Olympic Park.

Located between the Athletes' Village and the VeloPark, Chobham Manor will also have a walk-in health centre, two nurseries, two multi-purpose community spaces, neighbourhood shops and be located to the nearby Chobham Academy school.

The majority of houses will be earmarked for families, with a quarter set aside as affordable housing.

Andrew Altman, chief executive of the OPLC, said: "We are more advanced than any previous host city in our plans to deliver a legacy of new homes, jobs and leisure opportunities.

"Chobham Manor will set the standard for high quality design as the first neighbourhood on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park."

Developers must register their interest with the OPLC online by December 2nd.
