The ACE Benchmarking Lite programme is the industry’s annual peer-to-peer comparison programme, providing participating businesses with an in-depth analysis of their operations, revenue per fee earner, costs, staff turnover, marketing activity and competitiveness for companies with a headcount of below 50.
This document presents the results of the first annual Benchmarking Lite for Engineering and Consultancy study for smaller ACE Members. The original ACE Benchmarking Project, set up in 2006, is run annually and is now in its 6th year. Although many smaller firms have taken part in the main project over the 6 year period, others found that the detailed information required was not readily available from their management accounts. To make benchmarking more accessible and relevant for smaller firms, a simplified project, Benchmarking Lite, has been designed specifically for firms with up to 50 employees.
Thirty six firms provided data for the Benchmarking Lite project. This report examines general trends and wider conclusions about the group of 36 participants. Where appropriate, the results for the smaller firms are contrasted with the average performance of large and medium sized UK firms that have taken part in the main project this year.
