ACE welcomes new Crossrail chief executive Rob Holden

Issued: 03 February 2009

London & Continental Railways (LCR) chief executive Rob Holden’s arrival as the new chief executive of Crossrail was welcomed today by the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE).

Holden’s appointment, which was confirmed by Crossrail earlier today, was greeted warmly by ACE chief executive Nelson Ogunshakin. “ACE welcomes Rob Holden’s appointment to lead this major landmark multimillion pound investment programme for London and the UK,” he said. “We are pleased that he brings with him a wealth of commercial and ‘mega-project’ delivery experience as the chief executive of London & Continental Railways, where he delivered High-Speed 1 and the restoration of the St Pancras Station on time and on budget.”

“A successful transition to the new Crossrail leadership team from the exiting project champion, Douglas Oakervee, is critical to the continuing success of the Crossrail vision,” said Ogunshakin, who also said it was now crucial that the right appointments were made to deliver and manage the project.

“Whilst the immediate challenge of appointing the right team as delivery partners and programme management partners is critical, we hope that the combined experience of the outgoing chairman and chief executive Douglas Oakervee, new chairman Terry Morgan and Rob Holden will ensure that the right decisions are made on the chosen candidates for these major supply chain appointments,” Ogunshakin said.

Ogunshakin said that ACE was looking forward to working with Holden in his new role as the Crossrail project progressed from the development to execution phase.
