  ACE welcomes infrastructure ambition

Issued: 21 March 2012

ACE has welcomed the announcement of key infrastructure projects in the Chancellor’s budget.

The Chancellor announced commitments to significant infrastructure projects in his budget statement, including an expansion of the Northern Hub programme and the development of ultra-fast broadband across ten years. This follows the National Infrastructure Plan, which sets out a 500 project pipeline over the next ten years. The World Economic Forum ranked the UK 28 in the world for quality of infrastructure.

ACE chief executive, Nelson Ogunshakin OBE said: “The return to the economy of these schemes could prove crucial as the government shows its commitment to get the UK growing. It has listened to industry and recognises that infrastructure is a key driver of growth and employment. We must now see these announcements translate into delivery on the ground.”
