Mr Oakervee is the former executive chairman of Crossrail Ltd, and led that programme successfully into the implementation phase. Nelson Ogunshakin OBE, ACE chief executive, said: “I am delighted that Doug Oakervee will play a pivotal role in High Speed Two. He is a man of great stature, experience and integrity. His track record makes him the ideal person to lead this vital project, one which has vast potential for economic and social regeneration. He has consistently delivered significant infrastructure programmes that have a transformational effect, both in the UK and globally.
“I am sure that Doug will ably lead High Speed Two through the statutory process and community engagement to ensure a high quality outcome. His experience will be good for the programme and, I am sure, good for the UK.”
Mr Oakervee is a past president of the Institution of Civil Engineering and served on the senior leadership team of Laing O’Rourke, responsible for the group’s business development activities in Hong Kong.
