The Association for Consultancy and Engineering today welcomed the appointment of Alan Cook as the Highways Agency’s first non-executive chairman.
ACE believes that the new position will help to ensure that the Agency focuses systematically on achieving lasting value-for-money in its forward programme.
Nelson Ogunshakin OBE, ACE chief executive, said: “I welcome Alan Cook’s appointment. His background in financial services and with the Department for Transport means that he has the experience to bring a sense of commercial reality, tempered with an understanding of vital national infrastructure.
“In light of the recent Infrastructure UK report into the cost of civil engineering works, ACE welcomes the joint initiative of the Department for Transport and the Highways Agency in focusing on the efficiency agenda. ACE believes that efficiencies must be delivered in the right way to ensure lasting improvements, best value for investment, and a sustainable approach to vital national infrastructure.”
