  ACE responds to WIIP consultation

ACE has contributed to the Welsh Government's consultation on development of a Welsh Infrastructure Investment Plan (WIIP), stressing that early engagement with industry is crucial to ensuring specific constraints are addressed and that sustainable cost reduction can be achieved.

Finance Minister Jane Hutt leads the Welsh government's approach to developing WIIP with a view to ensuring that future investment is strategically prioritised. ACE looked at key projects such as electrification of the Great Western Line to Cardif, the possible need for cruise liner capable ports, and improvement of North South connectivity, perhaps through improvement of the Cwmbach to Newbridge on Wye highway.

ACE has also emphasised the importance of securing high quality broadband in Wales, the value of improved canals and cycleways for te tourism industry, and the impact of the Severn Barrage on the viability of the current Severn Rail tunnel.
