Consultancy and engineering firms will be able to better manage their relationships with recruitment consultants following the publication of a new guide to working with recruitment agencies by the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE).
Working with Recruitment Agencies - an ACE guide was published by ACE in conjunction with the members of its HR task force, following demands from member firms for guidance in this area. The guide identifies the qualities that define an effective business relationship between client and recruitment agency, describes those qualities and gives examples of positive business behaviours that embody them. The publication also includes guidance on establishing a service level agreement with an agency and model terms of business that could be adapted for use.
Jeannie Edwards, director of human resources at MWH and chair of ACE's HR task force, said: “Effective recruitment practice is in the interests of everyone connected with the industry, including the agencies. By incorporating the principles of this guide into their dealings with recruitment agencies, ACE members can help to encourage continuous improvement and the raising of standards in the recruitment field. This is important to ensure that the industry can continue to recruit the skilled people it needs.”
ACE hopes that the widespread application of the guidance will promote positive business behaviours across the recruitment industry, resulting in greater client satisfaction and more successful recruitment activity.
