The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) has paid tribute to Sir Michael Latham as he steps down as chairman of CITB-ConstructionSkills (the Industry Training Board) and ConstructionSkills (the Sector Skills Council).
Sir Michael produced the ‘Latham Report’ in 1994 after ending his career as a member of parliament for Rutland and Melton. He has had a close relationship with the engineering sector and currently chairs ACE’s Advisory Board.
Nelson Ogunshakin, ACE chief executive, said: “Michael has been a close friend to ACE and the engineering community. His groundbreaking report on the fragmentation of the industry highlighted the issues that we are still addressing. He has chaired ACE’s Advisory Board from its inception acting as its guide and offering wise counsel.”
Nelson Ogunshakin added: “On behalf of the ACE Board, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael for his leadership and wish him well for the future. Also, on behalf of the Board, I would like to congratulate James Wates on his appointment. ACE looks forward to working with James Wates as the new chairman as he drives the skills agenda forward.”
