The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) has issued its Budget submission in advance of the Chancellor’s announcements. ACE responded to the March Budget and still believes that setting out a clear plan for tackling the deficit is crucial in order to achieve a sustainable economic recovery.
ACE is also calling for the Chancellor to take on board its balanced scorecard approach, explore the use of infrastructure investment trusts (IIT) and recommends the creation of a Department for Infrastructure.
Nelson Ogunshakin, ACE chief executive, said: “The creation of a Department for Infrastructure would bring together all the work done by various departments under one roof. It would help reduce cost by ending duplication of effort and the head count of some departments.”
ACE welcomes the Government’s plan to consult with business and the public on spending cuts.
Nelson Ogunshakin added: “ACE looks forward to working with the Government on how best to reduce the structural deficit while maintaining its plans to move the UK to a low carbon economy. All the recent papers that ACE has produced are part of our contribution to that public policy conversation.”
