The Association of Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) congratulates Nelson Ogunshakin, ACE chief executive, on being awarded an OBE in this year's Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to the UK and international construction and engineering industry.
The ACE chief executive is a champion for the low carbon economy, has taken a leading role in the campaign to bring the Olympics to London in 2012 and raised the UK profile of consultancy and engineering globally by ensuring that ACE host the FIDIC 2009 conference in London. As well that, he engineered and delivered the recent transformation of the ACE to become the voice of consultancy and engineering profession and has also become a role model for the British ethnic community, encouraging them to go into the engineering profession and take a leadership role. He plays an active role in the Church community in the West Midlands.
Michelle McDowell, ACE, chair, said: "On behalf of the ACE board, I wish to congratulate Nelson. It is a great achievement to be awarded such an honour. Nelson has made a major contribution to ACE and the consultancy and engineering sector in general. I know that he will continue to do so. I, and all the ACE board, thoroughly enjoy working with Nelson and delivering our shared vision for the organisation and the UK consultancy and engineering sector."
Nelson Ogunshakin is ACE chief executive and has been in post for five years. Nelson serves on the non-executive board of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), the board of Thomas Telford, was vice-chairman of the Construction Industry Council (CIC) sitting on their executive board and sits on the executive board of Engineering UK.
