5,500 homes to be repaired in South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire

5,500 homes are to be repaired in South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire by the Galatia partnership.

The Galatia joint venture is comprised of repairs and maintenance company Willmott Dixon Partnerships and affordable housing provider Acis Group.

It will be responsible for planned works, gas inspections, repairs and voids maintenance and has a five year contract, extendable for another five years, worth £25 million.

This begins in May and the focus will be on Acis properties in the Sheffield and Gainsborough areas.

Galatia hopes that this scheme could be a pioneer for future outsourcing models with housing providers.

Acis Group chief executive Valerie Waby said: "We are excited about joining Willmott Dixon Partnerships as a partner in a joint venture model that will see us combine both skill sets to deliver quality and reliability for our residents."

In the north-east, a 1,800 home development is to be built on the banks of the River Tyne in a joint venture between Newcastle City Council and developers Barratt, Keepmoat and Yuill.
