The Castlegreen Waste Water Pumping Station in Dumbarton is to get an £840,000 revamp, Scottish Water has announced.
Four Archimedean screw pumps at the site will be refurbished as part of the works to keep the facility in line with waste water quality regulations.
Contractors Mackenzie Construction for Scottish Water Solutions will be carrying out the renovations, which are due to start on April 23rd and be completed by the autumn.
Mr Gary Caig, Scottish Water's west area wastewater assets manager, stated that the works would help secure the safety of the local environment.
"By refurbishing and replacing existing equipment there we will ensure we continue to meet stringent government regulations and provide a quality service to the community now and for many years to come," he said.
Scottish Water is a publicly owned body and is answerable to the Scottish Parliament.
It provides 1.3 billion litres of drinking water every day and takes away 840 million litres of waste water.
