A £65 million multi-purpose development is set to be built in a 1.5 hectare site in east London, it has been revealed.
Developer Willmott Dixon has formed a joint venture with supermarket giant Morrisons to redevelop an old car park and industrial area in Walthamstow town centre, reports Construction Enquirer.
The project will include a 75,000 sq ft Morrisons supermarket, additional non-food retail units and more than 230 apartments located above the food store.
Richard Haynes, development executive at Morrisons, claimed the development will have a positive impact on the local community.
"We are thrilled that Waltham Forest has seen that Morrisons and Willmott Dixon bring a winning formula for the site that will provide tangible benefits and opportunities to Walthamstow," he told the news provider.
"Both our companies are very experienced in delivering quality retail and residential schemes and have a strong commitment to jobs, community and sustainability."
A new community space is set to be created as part of the project, which will also help improve local transport infrastructure.
