The government has announced plans to develop a £659 million "Airport City" in Manchester.
The area has been designated as an Enterprise Zone and it is hoped that the scheme will attract international businesses to the area.
Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which has drawn up the plans for the airport site, estimates that the 116-hectare Manchester Enterprise Zone will create up to 20,000 new jobs over the next 15-years.
Two main business areas will be developed: one focusing on hotel, office, retail and advanced manufacturing uses and another designed for freight and logistics uses.
This will result in the creation of a huge amount of business space, including some 1.5 million square feet of offices, 2,500 hotel beds and 1.4 million square feet of logistics and warehousing space.
The tender for the project will be put out in a few weeks.
Charlie Cornish, CEO of MAG, said: "MAG is looking for a partner with global reach, a track record, partnership approach and investment capacity."
