A student housing development and a new fire station are set to be built in Cardiff city centre.
The student accommodation will feature 381 en-suite bedrooms, 157 studios and one disabled bedroom and one flat, and the fire station will have three fire appliance bays and ancillary accommodation.
The £23 million development work will be handled by VINCI construction on behalf of Cambrian Holst, with architects Morgan 2 Hayman and structural engineers Jubb Consulting also involved in the build.
Chris Pape, managing director of VINCI Construction UK Building Division for Midlands, South West, Wales and Retail said: "Both the student accommodation and the fire station will pose their own individual challenges which will require all of our expertise."
There are several higher education centres in the city, including Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Glamorgan University, which also has a presence.
As a result, students make up a significant proportion of the city's residents. For instance, Cardiff University has over 28,000 students.
